The Winnipeg Wildflower Project was established in the spring of 2019 with a goal of restoring urban spaces to native prairie habitat.
In our first few years, with the help of our partner, Prairie Originals, we planted garden sites around Winnipeg to establish a source for native wildflower and grass seed. The seed is harvested every year and shared around the community for prairie restoration and planting projects within the city.
These garden sites provide critical habitat for native pollinators and wildlife. Plus, they add beauty to our public spaces and provide plenty of opportunity for educational and volunteer experiences.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us with our mission! If you are interested in volunteering with us, please follow along on Instagram or Facebook where we post any volunteer opportunities and schedules!
We hope you'll consider joining us with this goal and help to create a wilder Winnipeg!
